Mariela Diaz was born in the small town of Tomebamba, Ecuador in the year 2000. Her parents, Juan and Maria Diaz, were both of mixed Puruhá and Spanish descent. From a young age, Mariela was exposed to both cultures, learning the language and traditions of the Puruhá people as well as Spanish. Growing up, Mariela was a bright and inquisitive child. She loved exploring the outdoors, playing with her friends, and learning new things. Mariela had a passion for learning and excelled in school. She was especially good at math, and her teachers often commented on her intelligence and creativity. At the age of 15, Mariela decided to pursue a career in science. She enrolled in a local university and began studying biology. Mariela loved learning about genetics and the natural world, and she was determined to make a difference in the world. During her studies, Mariela also became involved in local environmental initiatives. She started a recycling program in her school and organized beach cleanups in her hometown. She also volunteered at a nearby animal sanctuary, where she worked with endangered species. After graduating from university, Mariela moved to the United States to pursue a career in the field.
There she quickly found a job working for a small biology research lab in Massachusetts. She worked hard and quickly moved up the ranks, eventually becoming a supervisor and managing the research projects. She was dedicated to her work and was respected by her colleagues for her intelligence, knowledge, and enthusiasm. Mariela soon found herself working on research projects for some of the world’s leading pharmaceutical companies. Her work focused on developing new treatments for diseases, such as cancer and HIV/AIDS.
